Mail Call

At the end of December, I entered the Make-It-For-Myself-Giveaway over at the Lark Crafts website. I was so surprised and delighted to receive an email at the beginning of January informing me that I was one of the winners! There were six prize packages filled with an assortment of vintage needle arts tools and yarns, most with their original packaging, donated by a very generous woman named Shirley Pope.

My package arrived yesterday and included some super long "afghan crochet hooks" that look pretty dangerous, not to mention that I have no idea how to use them! There were also several crochet hooks, a pair of knitting needles, some needle threaders for yarn, and some lovely yarn. The yarn is beautiful, and my favourite colour too, from a company in Uruguay called the Sheep Shop Yarn Company. When I tried to go to the website listed on the tag, I discovered they went out of business in 2009, but I found this review of the yarn helpful.

  1. lucky you!
I have a couple of those long crochet hooks too, I am pretty sure you can do double sided crochet with them, though i have never tried it!

  2. Thanks for the information Ashley! That's interesting how they are used--I'll have to make some time to try that technique sometime.
