I am so happy to share that the purple quilt for my daughter, S, is now finished and in use! The machine quilting done by Laila is beautiful, with the curvy waves complementing the sharp lines of the log cabin blocks. I did a scrappy binding using strips of various leftover fabrics. Here is the finished quilt, an extra long size for a twin bed:

Daughter, C, is now asking for me to start a new quilt for her, but I need to work on a few other UFO's that were set aside to get S's quilt done quickly.
The quilting is nutso!!! WOW what a talent to do all that! I'm sure S is totally thrilled with the finished product . . . and I hope you are, too.

ReplyDeleteFUN COLOURS!!! My niece is obsessed with the colour purple, so, I've been collecting different bits of purple fabrics to make her a patch quilt. I'm still a big newb when it comes to quilting, but when I made a quilt for my daughter, my sister-in-law was really impressed and jokingly asked when I was going to make one for her daughter... so, I figured I'd make one for her for Christmas. Anyhow, I stumbled across this blog post when I was looking around for some inspiration. I love the quilt.. your daughter picked awesome colours and I love how funky they look with the square pattern. Love the strips on the back of the quilt, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Sara,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words! I was really pleased with how the quilt came together, and even more important, so was my daughter. I'm thrilled if it can provide inspiration to someone else--I'd love to see what you come up with for your niece!
