Miracles in the Garden
When we moved into our current home 10 years ago, my brother and sister-in-law gave us a pot of Trillium as a house warming gift. I planted them in the garden, and then didn't see them again for at least 5 years. Then, a few years ago, a few leaves grew. Each year, the leaves looked a little stronger. And this year, they've bloomed for the first time!
They are still very small compared to the plants they came from, but I am thankful for surprises and that they are still alive in my garden.
Trillium are a wildflower and the provincial flower of Ontario. They do not like being transplanted, and it is not unusual for them to take 5 or more years to re-establish themselves after the shock. These trillium came from private land in Ontario where my sister-in-law grew up. No wild habitat was disturbed in the process.

i've never seen a trillium.....how gorgeous!!! i love the simplicity of the white bloom.....so sophisticated, and well worth waiting the five years for!!! :))
