A Spider for Christmas

I participated in a Secret Santa swap with the TransCanada Etsy Team. My lovely package can be seen here and included this handmade ornament from my Secret Santa: a spider and web for luck. Lynn wrote out the story of the legend for me:

The legend from the Ukraine talks about an old woman who had no money to get a tree for her family at Christmas.
She prayed for a nice tree decorated in fine silver tinsel. The spiders heard her prayers and began spinning webs on the fir trees in the garden.
That night the magic of Christmas turned the webs silver.
Ever since that story, it has been good luck
in the Ukraine to have a silver spider web on your tree.
