Happy Easter

Wishing you all a very happy Easter!

Yesterday we decorated these fun eggs with silk neckties! You can find a tutorial to do it yourself right here. The anticipation as we unwrapped each one was priceless. The results were totally unpredictable, with some colours transferring very intensely, and others much more muted.

And in case you're wondering about that cute little Easter bunny basket: that is something I made many years ago at a mom's group when my oldest was just an infant. I don't have the pattern or its source.

  2. I made one of those bunny baskets too, but it was a bit too sweet for me so I gave it away. My eggs had mixed results -- some parts transferred beautifully, others not as much. but fun.

  4. I love the way the eggs look. I was at my favorite thrift shop yesterday - too bad I didn't know to look for silk ties! What do you do with the egg shells? I wonder if they would work for mosaics pieces in a mixed media work? I also like to reuse almost anything. For years I've used thrift shop clothing in my art quilts. Glad I found your blog - I saw your comment on Simply Robin's blog. I loved that button bird.
