A Weekend of Surprises

Late last week I heard about an upcoming book making workshop from the instructor, Janet Carroll and was very happy to get in at the last minute. The class was to make hard-covered flat-backed case binding on Saturday afternoon at Colours, a local art supply store. Even with my goof up in thinking it was a single-section case binding with a soft spine (somehow the "flat-backed" slipped right by me!), when it was actually a hard spine book that I have made before, it was a lot of fun! It's always inspiring to be at workshops with others who love creating.

This is the book I made. I chose the green paper because green is my favourite, and I've never worked with Italian paper before. It was very nice to work with.

Another surprise on the weekend was my youngest getting sick. Sore throat started Friday, continued all day Saturday (we kept on with our busy day), but I didn't look down her throat until late Saturday. White spot, red inflammation on her tonsils. Oh dear. Cancel plans for C and I for Sunday, and spend 2 hours at a walk-in clinic instead.....tonsillitis, possibly strep. Cancel plans for Monday as well....we'll have a pyjama day instead!

And saving the best for the last. On the weekend, Lori of elvie studio nominated me for the sweet "Spreader of Love" blog award!

Here's what to do to keep the love goin' around:

1. The winner may put the logo on their blog.
2. Put a link to the person who sent you the award.
3. Nominate 5 blogs.
4. Put links to their blogs.
5. Leave a message for your nominees.

So, in keeping with all of this, here's who I'm passing this award on to:
1. Scraps and Strings
2. Persistent Green
3. the rikrak studio
4. My Handbound Books
5. PatchworkPottery

Thank you Lori! You're so sweet to nominate me!
